A Fresh Approach to Counseling Virginia Beach
My approach to counseling Virginia Beach embodies whole person health — I focus on both mind + body wellness for optimal well being. Through my extensive experience working in community mental health, private practice, school + military counseling, I’ve repeatedly discovered that clients are best able to succeed in reaching their goals when they are willing to examine all aspects of their lives in relation to their well being. Symptoms of depression + anxiety can often be a by-product of our lifestyles, and I’ve found it crucial to explore areas such as exercise, nutrition, sleep, spirituality, social relationships + other daily habits while working to reduce mental health symptoms.
While we tailor our approach directly to each client’s individual needs, our counselors in Virginia Beach often utilize mindfulness techniques to assist clients in developing skills to becoming more present so that they are able to fully enjoy the moment. We work together to foster the mind + body connection and understand the impact that they have on one another. I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in becoming aware of manipulative thoughts + replace them with more positive and productive thinking patterns + behaviors. I operate from a strength-based perspective, meaning I believe that everyone possess the strengths + resources they need to overcome challenges, but sometimes we need some down-to-earth support + help in accessing these resources — which is where I come in.

Who I Work With
I specialize in working with women who strive to be the best version of themselves. Many of my clients have never attended counseling before while some are just looking for something a little different from their previous Virginia Beach counseling experiences. I specialize in working with teens and women who are experiencing issues related to depression, body-image, anxiety + stress. While some clients have experienced these issues periodically throughout their entire lives, for many it is a new occurrence related to a recent life event or transition.

The History of Mind|Body Method
The mission of Mind|Body Method is to empower women to achieve health, happiness, fulfillment + balance in their lives while simultaneously erasing the stigma associated with mental health. My decision to create Mind|Body Method stems from my own frustrations within the counseling profession. Although improving, there’s no denying that there has historically been a stigma associated with mental health. This stigma is at times perpetuated by the often sterile + impersonal environments of counseling offices and the mental health professionals who (by no fault of their own) are burned out due to the high volume of clients they are expected to see each day. With packed waiting rooms and delayed appointment times, clients are left feeling frustrated, anxious, and undervalued. In short, there has been a substantial disconnect between our society’s need and the current solution.
I realized that I needed to “be the change” in order to help others in an effective + efficient way. I craved a little more freedom + creativity; I needed a method that would revitalize the way we think about asking for help where I could give each client the time + devotion they deserve. Because taking that first step toward improving your life is a bold move; it should feel exciting! There should be someone on the other end who is just as enthusiastic about transforming your life as you are. So, I created a space where I could take the time to get to know and focus on each individual client — a place for women who are already doing well, but who want to live their best possible lives—women who believe in the importance of mind + body health and are willing to invest in the time + effort in taking the steps to live their best lives. I opened the doors to Mind|Body Method in October 2017 + the response has been overwhelming. I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of the story for such amazing women!
About the Office
If this is your first time attending Counseling Virginia Beach, I get it… it can be scary — but this is not your typical counseling office! I strive to provide my clients with a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere where everyone can feel comfortable. I value your time just as much as my own + you will never have to wait for a scheduled appointment. My “waiting area” has been transformed into an open space for my clients to utilize for yoga, meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply a place to go drink a cup of tea + have some quiet time before or after your appointment. I value your privacy, and you will never have to worry about running into someone you know at your appointments. The building is in a convenient but private location and I don’t overlap appointment times. Everything stays between us! I also offer other convenient appointment options such as spending your sessions walking on the beach, in the privacy of your own home, via Skype, or out in a community setting. Many of my clients like traditional office sessions while some prefer something a little different. My goal is to find what works for you! This is your time, let’s make the most out of it.
